Zip closure on the inner side. She opens, feet in, and zips up. Done without help from age 5 onwards. The zip runs from the ankle to the top of the shaft. It opens wide enough for the foot to enter without catching on socks or tights.

The price reflects the detail level. Denim texture over PU requires more production steps than a plain solid colour. Floral stitching and sequin placement are additional processes. A plain boot at the same build quality costs less. A decorated boot costs more. That is consistent across every footwear brand from Clarks to Dr Martens.

For comparison: a pair of girls’ fashion boots at Next costs £28 to £45 and lasts roughly one school term before the sole separates or the upper creases permanently. These, at £115, cost more upfront, but the PU upper, TPR sole and stitched details hold up for one to two size changes. Cost per wear over the full wearing period is often similar or better than cheaper alternatives that need replacing twice in the same period.

When will she actually wear them?

Weekends. Every weekend. These become the boots she reaches for on Saturday morning before you have said where you are going. Coffee with grandparents near Harborne. Daily care: wipe the PU denim surface with a damp cloth after school. The PU base repels dirt more than real denim would. Most marks come off with water alone.

Sequin care: if sequins lose a little sparkle after months of wear, a soft dry brush restores them. Sequins are fixed by stitching. Individual sequins may occasionally catch and lift. Press them flat with a finger. This is normal wear, not a defect.

Storage: stand upright. The mid-calf shaft holds shape if stored standing. If she throws them in the bottom of her wardrobe (she will), reshape the shaft with your hand when you find them.
